Hey, is concept painting different for book illustrators? Cuz I noticed book illustrations have a tendency to be sort of flat, and framed, and showing everything. Do you change the style of your painting depending on whether you're doing books, or trading cards, or film concept pieces?
I do change my style, especially between concept work and illustration. I tend work up the entire canvas for an illustration, sometimes too much I also shift styles to suit the publication or game i working for and what their style guide looks like.
How are you so amazing? Can I keep you in a little box and make you draw for me every day? I'd call you Fred and I promise I'd feed you and take you for walks and stuff The composition of this piece gives it so much movement and POWER! I am almost afraid that I am about to be crushed by a flailing tentacle! This is so glorious, I can't explain!
Wow, awesome! You convey the sense of everything-in-motion that Wizards (and other publishers) like so much, and yet you make the action solid and grounded, even as that ground tilt-a-whirls around the actors. I hope the fans and publishers will appreciate what you're doing!
