My heart would literally stop if I saw one of those colossal things wanting a piece of me.
As a paleontologist, I'm just thankful that there is no longer an abundance of Oxygen as there used to be in the Pennsylvanian Period.
A millipede called Arthropleura grew to the length of a modern-day car.

I know right, they are my most creepy inducing animals, must be all the legs. Millipedes no where near as creepy.

I saw some sculpts of this big guys in various museums on recent travels, really cool.

Easily one of the most unsettling renderings of a giant insect I have ever seen. True to life! Had a few foot long BASTARD centipedes in my house when I lived in Hawaii. *shudders*

Oh no... gross...

I love how you got the semi-translucent quality of the body... or is it the clear outer covering? Whatever it is, nicely rendered.

Creepy fits centipedes perfectly. i have seen them at reptile expos, and they are so vicious. i have never seen such aggressive insects. i hope i never encounter one in my neighborhood because their bite can really do some damage. even comic strip artist Bill Watterson mentions how creepy they are in a Calvin and Hobbes strip.

Calvin- "Hey Hobbes, i'll give you 20 questions to guess what's in my hands."
Hobbes- "Okay. Is it loathsome?"
Calvin- "Yes!"
Hobbes- "Is it some big centipede with poison pinchers?"
Calvin- "Centipedes have poison pinchers?"
Hobbes- "i think so, yes."
Calvin- "Man, it's a good thing you guessed it so fast!"
Hobbes- "With you, it's never too difficult."

definitely. i can't see how anyone would want to keep such an aggressive insect. one bite and you're in the hospital. but the form is great for drawing, (that and the mantis shrimp). they are such powerful creatures you just have to respect them.

Yeah I hate those big ones you find in the garden. Good thing we don't have the giant ones they have down south.

This looks like a great encounter.
